By accessing or using Grid Genius (the "Service"), including our mobile application, web app at play.gridgenius.app, and website at gridgenius.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Grid Genius is an AI-powered crossword puzzle application that generates unique puzzles using artificial intelligence. The Service includes daily challenges, custom puzzle creation, leaderboards, statistics tracking, and optional premium features available through in-app purchases.
To use certain features, you must sign in using Google or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.

Puzzles are generated by AI (Google Gemini). While we strive for quality, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors or inaccuracies in clues or answers. We do not guarantee the accuracy of all generated content. If you encounter issues, please report them through the app.
Grid Genius offers optional premium features through auto-renewable subscriptions. The following plans are available:
Some plans include features described as "unlimited", such as unlimited puzzle creation and unlimited AI hints on Pro. Unlimited means there are no daily caps for normal personal use. To keep the Service fast and available for everyone and to prevent automated or scripted abuse, AI-powered features are subject to generous hourly rate limits that typical play does not reach. If you do reach one, the feature becomes available again within the hour. We may adjust these safeguards over time to protect the Service.
Grid Genius may offer a free trial period for certain subscriptions. If offered, the trial provides full access to the subscription features for the specified duration. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Trial eligibility is limited to one per user.
Refund requests should be directed to the respective app store (Apple or Google), as we do not process payments directly.
The Grid Genius name, logo, design, and software are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.
"Your content" means the puzzles you make, import, or edit with the Service, and the words, clues, titles, and messages you write for them. You keep ownership of your content.
You may keep, print, export, and share the puzzles you make with the Service, inside or outside the Service, for any purpose, including classrooms, newsletters, events, and publications you sell.
Clues and grids our AI writes for you are yours to use the same way, and we claim no ownership of them. Because they are machine-generated, they may not be protected by copyright, and similar clues may be generated for other people, so we cannot promise they are unique to you.
Each puzzle you make is Public or Private, and you can change this at any time from My Puzzles.
Anyone who can open a puzzle can play and print it. Public puzzles can also be remixed into a new puzzle inside Grid Genius; your Private puzzles can be remixed only by you.
So we can run the Service, you give Grid Genius a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, format, display, and distribute your content, only to operate and promote the Service and in line with each puzzle's visibility. This includes showing a Public puzzle on the surfaces listed above and making previews, share images, and print layouts of your puzzles. The license ends when you delete the puzzle or your account, except for copies other people already saved, exported, or remixed through the Service, and backups we keep for a limited time.
You represent and warrant that you own your content or have the rights needed to store it and, if you share it, to share it. Enabling sharing on an imported puzzle is your confirmation that you have the right to do so. We may remove content that we believe infringes someone else's rights, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe.
If you believe content available through the Service infringes your copyright, including a copy of a puzzle you made, email support@gridgenius.app with the subject "Copyright complaint", identifying the work, the infringing URL, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized. We review complaints promptly and remove infringing content.
Your display name and puzzle completion data may be visible to other users through leaderboards and shared puzzles. By using these features, you consent to this public display. We reserve the right to remove inappropriate display names.
We aim to keep Grid Genius available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grid Genius and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through binding arbitration.
