These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Grid Genius application and website at gridgenius.app ("Service"), operated by Grid Genius ("we", "our", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Grid Genius. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have your parent's or guardian's consent. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Your Account

You sign in using Google or Apple authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Not share your account with others
  • Notify us if you suspect unauthorized access

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Service
  • Attempt to manipulate leaderboards, streaks, or hint balances
  • Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities instead of reporting them
  • Circumvent ad mechanisms to claim rewards without watching ads
  • Post offensive, abusive, or illegal content in comments or reviews
  • Harass, impersonate, or harm other users
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

4. Content

Your Content

When you post comments, reviews, or ratings, you retain ownership of that content but grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it within the Service. You are responsible for the content you post and must not violate others' rights.

AI-Generated Puzzles

Crossword puzzles are generated by artificial intelligence. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that all clues or answers are correct, current, or free from errors. Puzzles are provided for entertainment purposes.

Our Content

The Service, including its design, code, graphics, and branding, is owned by Grid Genius and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Grid Genius offers free and premium tiers.

Free Tier

Includes access to daily puzzles, limited puzzle creation, and hints earned through daily bonuses and rewarded video ads.

Premium Subscription

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or our web payment provider.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription through your app store account settings or your account page on our website.
  • Refunds are handled by the respective app store or payment provider according to their refund policies.

Hints and Virtual Items

Hints are virtual items with no monetary value. They cannot be transferred, traded, or exchanged for cash. We reserve the right to modify hint earning rates, costs, and daily limits.

6. Rewarded Ads

Free-tier users can watch rewarded video ads to earn hints. Ad availability depends on your region, device, and third-party ad networks. We do not guarantee that ads will always be available. Attempting to manipulate the ad reward system (including using tools to bypass ads or making direct API calls to claim rewards) is a violation of these Terms and may result in account suspension.

7. Leaderboards and Social Features

Leaderboard rankings are based on puzzle completion times and accuracy. We reserve the right to remove entries and suspend accounts that appear to use unfair means to achieve rankings. Your display name and profile photo may be visible to other users on leaderboards, comments, and social features.

8. Service Availability

We aim to keep Grid Genius available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions, including lost streaks or puzzle progress.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. We may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • AI-generated puzzle content will be accurate or appropriate
  • Your data will never be lost (though we take reasonable precautions)

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grid Genius shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you disagree with the changes, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Bangalore, India.
